APEX Crowns Optional State Champions, Qualifies 20 to Regionals!

APEX gymnasts recently crowned 4 state champions at Level 9, boys and girls, and qualified 20 gymnasts to their respective regional competitions. APEX also had great team finishes with the Boys Level 4 and Level 7 finishing 3rd in states and the Boys Level 6 finished 4th.

The girls levels 8 - 10 competed in their state championships in Virginia Beach on March 29 & 30 at Oscar Smith High School. APEX was led by Brielle Davis who was crowned level 9 state champion on vault and floor and qualified first in the Jr. C division for Level 9 Regionals. Sarah O'Donnell was crowned state champion for Level 9 on uneven bars as well. The level 9 team finished in 8th place as a team. Avis Hixon (level 10) and Maddy Scozzie and Anli Solly (level 8) also qualified for Regionals. Individual event placements are listed below.

The APEX boys teams were also in Virginia Beach the same weekend and were led by Aaron Meland who was the state champion at level 9 on high bar and finished 3rd in the all around. He has also qualified to compete in boys regionals in a quest to qualify to Nationals. The following boys also qualified to compete in Regionals: Aaron Meland, Ben Cluss, Nathan Cluss, Jay Thurn, Nathan Clingman, Ian Sicking, Montgomery Webb, Matthew Rubright, Emerson Fennell, Michael Manzer, Alex Shamenko, Hunter Voegele, Kyle Warner, Chris Chlandra, Izaack Sholly, Chester DeWolfe.
