APEX Qualifies Three to Nationals!
APEX Gymnastics had several optional gymnasts competing in Allentown this weekend at the Region 7 Championships and two gymnasts have qualified to compete at the JO Nationals in May. Boys team members had a strong showing at the Regionals held at Lehigh Valley Gymnastics with Emerson Fennell leading the way with a 6th place showing in the all around at level 7. In addition to that, Emerson also tied for 3rd place on pommel horse and finished 10th in the vault. Also in level 7, Alex Shamenko finished 11th on rings and 15th in the all around, Hunter Voegele was 12th in vault and Matthew Rubright won silver on pommel horse, 10th on floor and 12th all around.
The boys level 9 & 10 gymnasts also competed with two gymnasts qualifying to go on to the JO National competition in Battle Creek, Michigan. Aaron Meland finished 3rd in vault, 9th on high bar and 9th in the all around. Aaron Meland and Ben Cluss both qualified to compete in the National Championships May 7 – 11th. Nathan Cluss competed in the level 10 category for the first year and finished 23rd on high bar.
On the girl’s side, Brielle Davis competed at the Level 9 Regionals across town at the Parkettes gym and struck gold on floor exercise with an outstanding event. Brielle is the first APEX gymnast to be crowned a Region 7 Champion on floor exercise. Brielle also finished tied for 6th on vault and 15th in the all around. Brielle has been named the first alternate for girl’s JO Nationals in Ohio the first weekend of May.
Region 7 consists of gymnasts from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
